I have a sports injury, which means I’ve really arrived

“Does having a sports injury mean I’m a legit ultra-runner?” I half-joked with my chiropractor last week.

“It means you need to stretch more,” he told me.  Continue reading “I have a sports injury, which means I’ve really arrived” →

I first moved to Alaska 10 years ago this month. The intervening decade has seen some fits and starts but I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how everything that’s happened since that first move was leading me right back up here, cheesy as it might sound. Arriving in Anchorage this week felt a lot like coming home and I am glad I get to do it with @bixfirer and these two goofy dogs!
Quick selfie break, then back to trying to keep up with @jayneshreds ✌️
The Firewalkers are on the move! After 4 very awesome years in Boise, we’re heading north again. Bix just accepted a job (his dream job!) as a professor of outdoor studies at Alaska Pacific University. Anchorage, heading your way in early August! 🎉
When @bixfirer and I decided to officially start spending most of our time together almost exactly 9 years ago I don’t think either of us would have dreamed we’d someday own a boat, let alone, like, a house or a bank account with more than $12 in it. I guess growing up takes many forms and I’m very glad this is ours. Swipe for perfect angel boy dog bc it’s not fair if I only post one of them
Spent a long, lazy weekend on one of my favorite stretches of river with old and new friends. Also, Rooster’s first river trip and I think she gets it
A gals-only weekend with my bestie in the San Juans was exactly what the doctor ordered for me. Thanks @ennaalegna for good company, great camp cocktails, and having a sharp eye out for the “exciting predators” we were promised in the guidebook. Also, not to brag, but we saw porpoises 💅🏻
